Rankin thinks, that Yahtzee

is a great speaker, you see.

But it's too fast when he speaks

To understand which, many needs weeks

But in opinion of WNxGin

Which he delivered with evil grin

Yahtzee's best days had already passed,

he ought to quit making mov's at last

Maybe intonation's not too good but y'know what i meant ;]

Waiting for constructive reflections.

I can see that a few people recommended some videos or materials. Well, I would advise you to look for Angry Video Game Nerd. The guy is just so hilarious! He reviews old and crappy (really crappy) games, like NES or SNES games... but what he really does is just amazing! One of my favourites is "Die Hard", or "Spiderman", or...just go and watch him!:) However, watch out for his disturbing language, his videos are only for adults! You can find him on GameTrailers.com (I guess you know that web page). Anyone who knows him? I'm just curious;)

AVGN. This guy's a true classic. He's best video IMHO is the one where he's doing a review of Bible Games. I can't even tell how hilarious it is. Words won't discribe it. Just go and watch. He should be on youtube also.

Hey, my mate;) I also love him! I'm pretty sure that you know his real name (James Rolfe) and that he does a vide variety of other stuff. Have you seen his "You Know What Is Bullshit?" series? My favourite one is "Temperature":) He is soooo angry in this one:) What is more, he reviews movies, like "Rocky" series, (BTW, you have to watch the video where he is confused about movie sequels, I love it!:) ), and old systems, like Virtual Boy:)

Sidetrackin' a bit, but is it Atari that I see on your avvy there, Dabrus? Which versions (I can't quite see)...?

The one on the top is Atari 520 STE, the socond one is Atari 1040STE (1040STE was my first computer ever, I was three years old then:) ). Basically, they were very similar models, but the second one had 1 MB of RAM memory (instead of 512 KB), though you could extend it up to 4 MB (my dad did;) "E" stands for "enhanced", because there were normal ST models also. It had a palette of 4096 colours, 8-bit stereo sound, two joystick ports, and a 8MHz processor:) I hope that now things are clearer:)

Now I know why there was so much competition between Atari and Amiga, since these are almost exact same specs Amiga had. Myself, I had Atari 2600 (aka "Rambo" ;) ), and then A600 - 1MB RAM (6 max), 4 channel, 8 bit stereo sound and up to 4096 colours.

The funny story is, the man whom my parents bought it from removed the hard drive before selling. I've learned about that many years later when I was porting the ROM contents. UAE said "A600HD", and everything became clear then (especially "what is this "Work" drawer in the manual?").

And what about the CPU? Did you have the normal 7MHz CPU (If I am wrong, correct me...I've never owned an Amiga), or an upgraded version? I'm not an Amiga expert, but it seems that Amiga and Atari were very similar. I wonder which of them was better...just from the technical point of view. I was, I am and I will be an Atari fanboy:) Ah, those memories....they are beautiful:) I remeber playing Rick Dangerous II, Lemings II, Baby Joe, Bumpy's Arcade Fantasy, R-Type III....so many of them:) I remember that illegal versions were actually....legal, because in Poland games were not proctected by the copyrights yet. Old times...

It was a Motorola 68k at 7,14 MHz wit Fat Agnus, Super Denise, Paula and Gayle coprocessors. The CPU speed was supposedly having something to do with vertical refresh rates but I can't recall any details on that.

Indeed, you don't write in english very well ;) Sadly, I don't feel fluent enough in english too, but every single opportunity to improve your language skills is good :] Let's talk then!

My actual mobile phone is Sagem my501X. It's my third mobile phone and third Sagem. And I feel quite satisfied with what it can offer me and how it works. My colleagues can not understand why I like it so much, as they are using Nokias and Sony Ericssons only. Duh, not my fault actually ;)

I won't say a single word neither about Amiga, Commodore 64 nor any other old-time computer, because I haven't been using them. The first platform I've been playing at was NES, called also Pegasus. Mario, Tanks, Ducks -- amazing how such a simple game can suck you into its own small world for hours. What nowadays game can do that as easily as they could?

Well I'll add something to this discussion about phones. I had two Nokia's and my current ( not actual cause it means the same as real by the way ;) ) cell is Nokia too. Nokia 3110 classic to be precise. I don't imagine having any other phone than Nokia. A couple weeks ago I was forced to use Sony Erricson for one week and after a day I've decided not to use any mobile till my Nokia comes back ;)

Mario, Tanks, Ducks...ehh....reminds me of the old times. Holiday in my grandparents' house and saving those stupid fake princesses. Yeah, that was cool :D I am sure you remember Circus Charlie. This game's a true classic. I still remember that level with a pony and springboards.

As far as I'm concerned, Nokia 6100 is the best cell. I have been using that phone for about 6 or 7 years (I don't remember exactly) and I can say that it is undestructible (literally). It survived all accidents, including falling on concrete several times, unintenionally kicking and pouring with tea:) I'm aware that from the technicall point of view, it is not as good as my501x or whatever. However, I would rather have working Nokia 6100 all my life than any other cell which can be easily damaged. Or maybe I'm just too lucky;)

Naah, all Nokias are like that. My old 3100 was also invulnerable, but as soon as I switched to Sony Ericsson K310i (end of contract, etc.), i got a crapload of crashes and hangs, along with a failing PSU and controller stick :/. Stupid me...

What nowadays game can do that as easily as they could?

Other simple games, such as Echoes, Every Extend, etc.

Speaking of simple and free games, I was kinda disappointed with CDA's selection of freewares :/. Lacking many hallmarks of indie gaming...

Which are? ;) You must remember that many freeware are freeware for the individual user and commercial use may be prohibited. But I do not dare venture into how and why CDA made their choices. I am interested in thos hallmarks because I am not a specialist and would like to get know some of them.

Here's some I can think of right now:

http://www.wesnoth.org/ - Battle for Wesnoth - simply the greatest and most polished freeware strategy game. Hex-based, nice looking (unlike FreeCiv) original (unlike FreeCiv), clear rules (unlike FreeCiv), extensive online help (unlike FreeCiv) and multiple long campaigns. Also, it's completely translated to Polish.

http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/ - Dwarf Fortress - you might or might not have heard about this game already. Admittedly, this game is still in alpha stage but I've been playing it for over a year now. It's kind of Dungeon Keeper meets Settlers; the downsides are its somewhat steep learning curve and confusing - at first - interface.

http://members.iinet.net.au/~vannevar/tyrian/ - Tyrian 2000 - the great SHMUP is freeware!

http://www.vector.co.jp/soft/winnt/game/se413558.html - Blue Wish Resurrection - fast, furious, SHMUP

http://www.hurrican-game.de/ - Hurrican - a great remake of Turrican

http://www.vollversion.de/download/cho_ren_sha_68k_2478.html - Cho Ren Sha 68k - frequently hailed as the best freeware shoot'em-up

http://nifflas.ni2.se/index.php?main=04Within_a_Deep_Forest - this is similar to Gumboy, except it places more emphasis on puzzle solving

http://ainc.de/Games.htm - Tsunami 2010 - very trippy, very fun. Interesting is the fact that the whole game takes only 96 kbytes and everything is generated upon running.

http://www.create-games.com/download.asp?id=6488 - Paroxysm - short and sweet - and gory - maze game, reminescent of the old Prince of Persia.

http://heroes.sourceforge.net/ - Heroes - a cross between Tron and Snake games. Nice music, up to four players, multiple game modes

http://www.artsoft.org/rocksndiamonds/ - Rocks'n'Diamonds - Boulder Dash!

http://www.gamingw.net/forums/index.php?topic=68488.0 - Barkley Shut up and Jam Gaiden - a hilarious RPG

http://www.fullyramblomatic.com/notes/ - Trilby's Notes - Yahtzee's atmospheric horror adventure game

http://onescapee.invictus.hu/ - onEscapee - similar to Another World and Flashback

http://www.lf2.net/ - Little Fighter 2 - great and fun beat'em up. Up to four players on one PC!

http://www.anywherebb.com/ - Noctis - it's a space exploration game. Literally. Players that want action or shooting will be disappointed with this one.

Wat? Wut? What? o_O

Here's a nice poem I've dug out (with regards to all cat owners out there :) )

For I will consider my cat ...

For at the first glance of the glory of God in the East he worships in his way.

For this is done by wreathing his body seven times around with elegant quickness...

For having done duty and received blessing he begins to consider himself.

For this he performs in ten degrees.

For first he looks upon his fore-paws to see if they are clean.

For secondly he kicks up behind to clear away there.

For thirdly he works it upon the stretch with the fore-paws extended

For fourthly he sharpens his paws by wood.

For fifthly he washes himself.

For sixthly he rolls upon wash.

For seventhly he fleas himself, that he may not be interrupted on the beat.

For eighthly he rubs himself against a post.

For ninthly he looks up for his instructions.

For tenthiy he goes in quest of food...

For when his day's work is done his business more properly begins.

For he keeps the Lord's watch in the night against the adversary.

For he counteracts the powers of darkness by his electrical skin and glaring eyes.

For he counteracts the Devil, who is death, by brisking about the life.

For in his morning orisons he loves the sun and the sun loves him.

For he is of the tribe of Tiger.

For the Cherub Cat is a term of the Angel Tiger...

For there is nothing sweeter than his peace when at rest.

For there is nothing brisker than his life when in motion...

For God has blessed him in the variety of his movements...

For he can tread to all the measures upon the music...

?Christopher Smart
